Similar to many working class homes, the Chifleys’ sitting room was a small self-contained room at the front of the house. The room, mostly used when special guests called in, contains several gifts presented to Ben including a wall-hanging from the Chinese Embassy in Canberra. The lounge suite and the Axminster carpet were typical household features during post-war Australia |
